In honor of the 70th anniversary of D-Day, I have posted a new weekend itinerary detailing my visit to the Normandy beaches last summer. Click here to be sent directly to the PDF itinerary.
From top left, clockwise:
Calves at Château de Vouilly, exploring the grounds at Château de Vouilly,
Longues-sur-Mer, Barfleur
If you have not already visited the Normandy beaches, I highly recommend at least a weekend in the region. We managed to see quite a lot in two days/three nights, though these were two very packed days of touring.
From top left, clockwise:
Near the Phare de Gatteville, the American Cemetery at Omaha Beach,
Pointe du Hoc, American Cemetery at Omaha Beach
I have included in my itinerary a highly recommended bed & breakfast that was itself a part of 1944 world history, Château de Vouilly. I stayed here in 1999 and again 14 years later, and it was just a wonderful (if not better) on the second visit.
Do you have additional suggestions for a visit to the Normandy beaches?
