Nearly two years ago, I wrote (here) about one of the long distance trails (the grandes randonnées) that transects central Paris (see the Red 1 Trail below).
This past summer, I completed another of these hikes through Paris, the Blue 2 Trail above.
The full trail is about 20km long.
You can find a detailed map here.
I actually broke the trail into two parts: I started at home in the Marais and worked my way north to Porte de la Villette.
I then jumped on the metro and headed to Parc Montsouris in the south of the city and worked my way north, back to my apartment.
The path is marked with red/white or red/yellow or balissages.
It gets a bit confusing at times, but the good news is that you’re never lost.
You’re still right in the center of Paris!
You can always take detours or shortcuts as well…
…and rejoin the trail at a later point.
It’s a different way to see the city, and to find hidden corners of the outer neighborhood you may not have discovered otherwise!
