It had been on my list for a while. Last week I finally made it down to Gare Montparnasse without too much luggage to carry so I could explore what’s above the station.
Few people realize that above the station platform and train tracks is an 8+ acre city park, the Jardin de l’Atlantique. It’s not the most beautiful park in Paris, that is for sure. But it’s a nice option if your train is delayed or you find yourself with some extra time to grab a sandwich and eat outside on a nice day.
It’s not the easiest park to find either–which does add to the fun of it. You feel sneaky up there on the roof of the Gare Montparnasse! The simplest way to access the park is via the west side of Hall 2 of the station (the area where the rental car agencies are located.)
